Nexus' new look and feel
By RAVI DYKEMA

Here’s why we feel passionate about, and are willing
to work so hard on, Nexus’ look: We feel the information
and images we give you in these pages are important. The story
may be about your health, your spiritual quest, your community,
your Colorado, or your world. We hope every story provokes
new ideas or helps you grow and change.
This issue, for example, helps you see the upcoming election
in a new light (p.
28), helps you quit smoking (p.
8), helps you grow from painful events at work (p.
20), helps you reduce you fossil fuel consumption (p.
24), and helps you eat more healthfully (p.
22).
But just as important as is each story is the connection
we help you make to your community, to people who care about
the things you care about, such as healthy food, spiritual
fellowship, closeness among family and friends, Earth’s
wellbeing, and solving humanity’s thorny problems.
Your community is especially evident among our advertisers.
They truly bring you this magazine because they pay all the
bills, and they have for all 28 years of our exuberant life,
from issue number one in the Fall of 1980 (pictured below,
left) to our new all-color re-designed March-April ’08
issue.
Please
appreciate them for supporting this community connection by
telling them you saw their ad in Nexus.
Many times over the years I have heard people say they moved
to the Denver/Boulder area because of Nexus, because of the
rich and diverse community of holistically-minded people who
live here, evident to them in our pages.
This new design, by the way, is the creation of Steve Sedam,
who came to Nexus from the LA Times. He has earned illustration
and design awards from the Society of News Design, Print Magazine,
and Communication Arts Magazine.

If you have a business that might interest Nexus readers,
consider having Steve design an ad for you. Find more info

Now, please turn the page, and feel Nexus’ new passion
and new color.
