Our cover this issue, "Magic Sunflowers," is by Mary Russel, a native of California who moved to northern New Mexico and then to Aspen. About her work, Russel says, "when one can let go of the critical rational mind that judges what is good or bad, then painting becomes a resonance with spirit—a very non-verbal spiritual experience into the unknown, expressing beauty and joy." Believing in giving back in service, Russel is creating a Foundation for the Arts to better support the arts for underprivileged children in northern New Mexico.
