Sweet dreams
Tapping into a deeeper knowing with dreamwork

Do you believe in intuition? Do you think you can tap into your own future and “see” your next successful career step? If not, would you consider the possibility that it might be true?

Maybe you’re smart, successful, practical, realistic and don’t believe in what you can’t see. But then why are you in this mess? Why are you rethinking your life? How did you get laid off or fired? Why are you afraid? You carry the solution to all of these problems right inside of you, just by tapping in to your intuition.

One of the most direct routes to your intuition is through examining your dreams. Sit down and remember, and start to listen to what your soul is trying to tell you. Your inner wisdom is banging on the door of your practical, logical left-brain as powerfully as it can. Are you listening?

In the 1900 edition of Sigmund Freud’s book Interpretation of Dreams, the father of modern psychology wrote about his own dreams and what he thought they meant. One of those documented dreams clearly foretells his future illness 28 years later and eventual death from mouth cancer. The dream even offers a solution (to stop smoking cigars). But Freud interpreted the dream with his own narrow parameters of sexual metaphors rather than seeing the gift of premonition and solution that the dream offered.

Are you doing something similar with your dreams? If life really isn’t as “realistic” as you imagine it to be, what are you missing?

Maybe you’ve had glimpses through the cracks in the façade of our physical world. Perhaps it was at the birth or the death of a loved one. Maybe you’ve taken a breath, had a moment where you knew there was something more, and you heard your higher guidance, your divine wisdom whisper: “Life is not what you think it is.”

This is your powerful higher self reminding you of what you already know, but choose to forget, because it’s not what the world tells you is true. That’s the same higher self that can reveal your new life and new work to you as effortlessly as a dream in the night.

Are you afraid? Are you worried about your future? Then you’re tapped into fear, rather than intuition. Here’s how you can tell: fear is a low, negative energy and it resonates in the pit of your stomach, in the clenching of your hands, the tightening of your throat, and the weariness of your thoughts. Intuition is relaxed, open, and spacious. Your intuition and divine guidance speak up in the quiet moments when time stops and you just know what’s true. Just know it in your bones. But first you have to stop and be quiet for this to happen. When was the last time you did that?

Try it now. Sit down, be still, and quiet your monkey mind. Shut down the part of your brain that you always listen to. You can pray, meditate, or just breathe. Think nothing and do nothing. Just wait. In the spaces between your breaths, it will happen.

If you can remember your true dreams, if you can tap into your intuition, you will realize that you’re standing in a new world, one in which you’re here to share your talents with everyone through your work. Work is a new four-letter word called “gift.” In this world, you don’t “go to work” anymore. You give yourself to others in ways that are needed, and you’re paid for doing this. You make your money by offering your soul’s true gifts to the world. You honor your intuition in every moment. And you lack nothing.

Try it for yourself. Sit down, quiet your thoughts, and tune out the fear. When you open your eyes you’ll see your next step. Here’s how to navigate your future using your impeccable intuitive guidance system:

1. Recognize that your fear voice is not your intuitive guidance; it's your pitiful self trying to convince you that this problem is the end of your world. Fear is the low end of your energy continuum and it's not your higher self speaking. Making choices based on fear never gets you where you want to go. Raise your energy through laughter, gratitude, and dreaming of what you want to happen. Then your higher self, your intuition, can be heard above the doomsday chatter. This is the voice to take action on.

2. Wake up in the middle of the night and write down any dream you can still see and feel, any glimmers or memories you carry into the waking state. Write them down before the sun comes up. When the sun comes up, it illuminates this world we call our reality. But is it possible that what we call reality is an illusion, that this physical world is really only our imagination? That maybe we came here to build our strength and courage by pushing through these earthly illusions? When you dream, you live and dance in the unseen world. Remember where you’ve been when you awaken.

3. Imagine making a career move that you’re considering, such as taking a new job, quitting an old job or launching a business. Visualization is a powerful tool and ally of intuition. See yourself living in this new career. How does your body feel when you see yourself in this future? Do you feel energized and excited? If so, your intuition is telling you this is the right move for now. If your body feels heavy and exhausted when you think of this future, your intuitive guidance is saying “Don’t do this!”

4. Meditate. There is truly a science of quieting down the pitiful self, the fear voice, and tapping into your higher wisdom. It requires sitting still for 20 minutes and repeating a sound, sacred word, or prayer. You can watch fear thoughts flit through your consciousness as you calmly return your mental focus to the sacred sound you’re repeating. Eventually the mind settles down.

In this quiet stillness between thoughts, you have access to the wisdom and power of divine guidance. You’ll quickly realize that this is where your inspiration and brilliance lives and you’ll want to live there too.
