| Our cover this issue, Roadside Attraction, is by painter and sculptor Julie Maren. Maren is a native Coloradan and graduate of University of Colorado at Boulder. Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout North America and Japan. It has a narrative quality, expressing themes of the human experience and different psychological states. Maren finds inspiration in everyday life: "I often paint portraits of people I see for brief moments in time - like a pensive cowboy in an airport. The concept of the 'unsuspecting model' is very appealing to me." Currently, Maren's work is on view at the Museum of Outdoors Arts in Englewood. This fall, Maren will install several stone sculptures at the University of Colorado Research Park. Maren may be reached at 303 543-1239.
