GRIEF RECOVERY OUTREACH WORKSHOPS are "take action" workshops for moving beyond loss of any kind: loss of faith, career, job, relationship break up of any kind, retirement, miscarriage, interrupted pregnancy, placement of a child, a debilitating disease, mental illness, loss of hopes, dreams, and expectations for yourself or a loved one, masectomy, head injury, moving, death or any of the more than forty other losses that a person encounters over a life time.

Simply defined, grief is the NORMAL and NATURAL reaction to emotional loss of ANY KIND. Often in our society, we are encouraged to "Let go and move on." Most of us would do that if we knew how. Unfortunately, we are taught how to acquire things, not what to do when we have a significant loss. Other myths, or incorrect ideas about dealing with loss are: Keep busy. Grieve alone. It just takes time. Replace the loss. It's not that bad. Be strong. Don't feel bad.

GRIEF RECOVERY OUTREACH WORKSHOPS provide the correct action choices that guide you to move beyond the pain of loss. It requires a commitment to your own healing through a structured 8 week workshop, (or 1-1) in a safe environment where you can look at old beliefs about dealing with loss, look at what losses have affected your life and take new action steps which lead to completion of the pain attached to one of those losses. Completion of the reationship to the pain, results in regaining a sense of well being and the ability to live a richer, more joyous life, more fully in the present.

The workshops are facilitated by Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, Jo Leightner, educator, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is the weekend Unit Coordinator at the Hospice Care Center of Broomfield and Boulder Counties, where she works directly with patients and their families. Jo is also a facilitator and co facilitator of an 8 week Grief Group through Hospice Care of Boulder County.
After a series of her own personal losses in a very brief time, Jo worked through a Grief Recovery Outreach Workshop as a participant.

Although the work wasn't easy and at times quite challenging, the benefits have proven to be incredible. The relief, the joy, and the return to being able to live more fully in the present is a gift that she wants to share with others.
