Prescription drugs kill more people each year than automobile and airplane accidents
combined, says Thomas J. Moore of George Washington Universitys Center for Health
Policy Research, author of Prescription for Disaster: The Hidden Dangers in Your
Medicine Cabinet. He recommends that you ask your doctor and pharmacist lots of
questions, keep a log with the names of drugs you take and why and when, ask your doctor
to review your medical records periodically, read any warnings and contraindications and
look for precautions to be taken with the drug.
