Getting ready for fall

It’s Kapha season, according to Ayervedic medicine. To help yourself get ready for the transition that is fall, take these steps: Honor your natural tendency to slow down. Be attentive to your daily routine. Stay in bright light indoors and wear bright colors. Keep your head warm. Turn to warmer, hotter-flavored foods. Eat more apples, pears, ginger, barley, corn, millet, buckwheat, rye and oats—and less dairy, bananas, avocados, melons, dates, figs, coconuts, soy, rice, wheat, nuts, salt, tomatoes, zucchini, sweet potatoes and cucumbers.
