Americans finally losing weight

For the first time in six years, Americans are beginning to lose weight, according to a new study; though the numbers are small, experts are hopeful that the trend may continue. In the study, 55 percent of the US population was overweight, a slight reduction from 56 percent the previous year and the first drop in six years. Researchers credit an increase in fruit and vegetable consumption, as well as more interest in a balanced diet and less snacking. The study also found that 35 percent of Americans said they try to plan nutritious meals, and that 66 percent said they were strenuously exercising at least once a week.
