Oats help fight plaque in arteries

An antioxidant compound in oats may help prevent the deposit of plaque on artery walls and reduce the risk of heart disease. In a recent study, human arterial cells were exposed to avenanthramides, antioxidants found in oats. Researchers found that blood cells were significantly less able to stick to arterial wall cells that had been incubated with the antioxidants for 24 hours.
