BAHA’I
The founder of the Baha’i Faith was Baha’u’lah (1817-1892), a Persian nobleman who suffered 40 years of imprisonment and exile. Baha’i followers believe that he was the latest in a line of messengers from God that includes Abraham, Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Mohammed. The main theme of Baha’u’llah’s message is unity. BUDDHISM

       Avalokiteshvara Buddhist Center. Founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1999. Offering meditation classes in Denver, Colorado Springs, Lakewood, Englewood, Golden and Boulder. The Center also offers meditation retreats, study programs and special courses.       Boulder Zen Center. Traditional Zen meditation practice held at 6am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, on Tuesday starting at 5:30pm, from 7-8:30pm Thursdays, and from 9am to noon on the third Saturdays of each

Karma Dzong/The Boulder Shambhala Center. Largest center of Shambhala International in the U.S. Founded in 1970 by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan scholar and meditation master. Karma Dzong is also the new home of Shambhala training, a non-sectarian, non-religious meditation path. Offering instruction in the practice of silent sitting meditation. Meditation sessions: Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 to 8:30am and 5:30 to 6:30pm. Sundays, 9am to noon and 2 to 5pm. Classes are offered throughout the year.       The Zen Center of Denver. A lay Buddhist training center, under the spiritual direction of Danan Henry, Sensei. Offering daily Zen meditation periods, all-day meditation sessions, seven-day meditation retreats, private instruction, weekly talks, tai chi and yoga practice, work practice, art practice and community service.       Great Mountain Zen Center. Offers traditional Zen training and practice under the direction of Gerry Shishin Wick, Sensei dharma successor in Rinzai and Soto Zen lineages of Taizan Maezumi Roshi. Weekly meditation, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5:45am; chanting and dharma talks on Sunday at 8am and Wednesday at 7pm, Lafayette, 720-890-1800, www.gmzc.org.

      Insight Meditation Community. Offering vipassana meditation, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Wednesday and Saturday mornings. One- to four-day retreats and additional special programs scheduled monthly, Boulder, 303-499-0260, www.insightcolorado.org

      Manjushri Wisdom Center. Study of Buddhist teachings, second and fourth Sundays of the month, 10am. Volunteers needed for the Marpha Project to build schools and health clinics in Nepal. Boulder, 303-499-9303.

      Naropa Zen Group. Offering meditation, chanting and circle discussion of Buddhist teachings. Tuesdays at 7pm Boulder, 720-352-5352; Longmont 303-682-2685.

      Ratnashri Sangha. Tibetan Buddhist meditation under the direction of Khenpo Konchog Gyaltshen Rinpoche. Meditation, Wednesdays, 7pm. Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, Thursdays, 7:30pm, 303-554-6043.

      Rigpa Boulder. Offering meditation, 7pm Tuesdays; ongoing Buddhist course offered on Thursdays, 7pm. 303-413-8378.

      Shambhala Meditation Center of Denver. Part of Shambhala International (largest collection of Western Tibetan Buddhist Sanghas in the U.S.) Founded in 1970 by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan scholar and meditation master. SMCD is also the home of Shambhala training, a non-sectarian, non-religious meditation path. Offering instruction in the practice of silent sitting meditation.
